The food you serve at a wedding largely depends on your tastes, cultural traditions, wedding theme, venue, and budget. However, here are some common food service styles and corresponding food suggestions:

  1. Buffet Style: This is a more relaxed and casual approach where guests can choose various options. Typical dishes may include a salad station, a carving station (roast beef, ham, or turkey), sides such as roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes, and a dessert table.
  2. Sit-Down Dinner: A more formal option, usually involves 2-3 courses. The first course might be a salad or soup, followed by a choice of entrees (beef, chicken, fish, or a vegetarian option), and a dessert, which could be the wedding cake or an additional dessert.
  3. Cocktail Reception: This style involves serving a variety of hors d’oeuvres and canapes, often with a mix of hot and cold options, such as mini sliders, bruschetta, shrimp cocktail, cheese and charcuterie boards, and bite-sized desserts.
  4. Family Style: Similar to a sit-down dinner, but instead of individual plates, dishes are brought to the table in large serving dishes. This can create a warm, communal atmosphere.
  5. Food Stations or Food Trucks: Particularly trendy for more casual or unique venues, you could have various stations serving different types of cuisine (taco station, sushi station, pizza station), or hire food trucks to provide a variety of street food options.
  6. Themed Menus: Depending on your wedding theme or personal interests, you could have a menu that fits a specific theme. For example, a beach wedding might feature seafood and tropical fruits, while a rustic barn wedding might have BBQ and pies for dessert.

Remember, the goal is to reflect your tastes as a couple and ensure your guests have a meal they will enjoy. It’s also always appreciated to consider dietary restrictions and offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options if needed.
